About the PR25DD Engine
The 5th-generation Altima (2019+) uses the PR25DD — a direct-injection 2.5L engine distinct from the older QR25DE used in previous Altima generations and the T32 Rogue. The PR25DD features Nissan’s Variable Compression Ratio technology in a simplified form and is designed around 0W-20 lubrication from the ground up. Do not cross-reference parts from the older QR25DE engine family.
Using incorrect oil will:
- ❌ Increase friction and accelerate wear in the direct-injection valvetrain
- ❌ Reduce cold-start protection for timing chain components
- ❌ Risk voiding Nissan’s powertrain warranty
