SPECIFIC 508 00 509 00 0W-20 is Motul’s 0W-20 for Volkswagen Group engines that require VW 508 00 (gasoline) or VW 509 00 (diesel). Motul’s product page lists VW 508 00 509 00, Porsche C20 and Ford WSS-M2C956-A1 under OEM Approvals, and API SP and ACEA C5 as its standards.

Volkswagen’s own approved-oil list also includes Motul Specific 508 00 509 00 SAE 0W-20 under VW 508 00/509 00 (Volkswagen technical bulletin 2012855/81, “Volkswagen Engine Oil Quality Standards”, June 4, 2026).

VW 508 00 oils are 0W-20 and are not backward compatible with older VW standards, so use it only where the owner’s manual calls for VW 508 00 or 509 00.
