Complete Oil Specifications
GM’s owner manual for the 2023 Corvette Stingray with the 6.2L LT2 V8 says to use engine oil that meets the dexosR specification in SAE 0W-40. Look for the dexosR approved logo. GM recommends Mobil 1 engine oils that show it. Engine oil capacity is 7.1 L (7.5 qt) with the filter.

Dry Sump: Check the Level Carefully
The LT2 has a racetrack-ready dry sump lubrication system. Check the oil level with the engine warm, and follow the manual’s dipstick procedure. A cold reading on a dry sump engine doesn’t show the true amount of oil.
When to Change the Oil
The Engine Oil Life System works out the change point from engine revolutions, temperature and miles driven. When CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON appears, change the oil within the next 1 000 km (600 mi). GM also requires:
- At least once a year: change the oil and filter, even if the system hasn’t asked for it.
- After an accidental reset: change the oil at 5 000 km (3,000 mi) since the last change.
