The owner’s manual for the 2023 RAM 2500 recommends Mopar API Certified SAE 0W-40 full synthetic engine oil meeting FCA Material Standard MS-A0921; an equivalent full synthetic SAE 0W-40 oil can be used but must carry the API Donut trademark for the 6.4L engine. When to Change the Oil
The Ram 2500 has an engine oil change indicator system that displays “Oil Change Due” when it’s time to change the oil, and the interval can vary with your driving style. For gasoline engines, the manual sets a hard limit: oil change intervals should never exceed 8,000 miles (13,000 km), 12 months or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first.
