Ford’s owner’s manual for the 2021 F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost recommends Motorcraft SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C961-A1. If Motorcraft oil isn’t available, use an SAE 5W-30 oil that meets API SP and shows the API Certification Mark for gasoline engines. Engine oil capacity is 6.0 qt (5.7 L) including the oil filter.
Oil Filter
Ford lists the Motorcraft FL-500-S engine oil filter for the 3.5L EcoBoost. If it isn’t available, use a filter that meets SAE/USCAR-36.
Extreme Cold
Where ambient temperatures reach -22°F (-30°C) or below, Ford allows SAE 0W-30 synthetic blend oil meeting WSS-M2C963-A1 for better cold starting.
When to Change the Oil
The F-150’s Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor shows a message when the oil needs changing. Intervals may be up to one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km), and Ford says not to exceed one year or 10,000 mi between service intervals. Reset the oil change reminder after each oil and filter change.
