Ford’s owner’s manual for the 2023 F-250 with the 6.7L Diesel engine recommends Motorcraft SAE 10W-30 Super Duty Diesel Motor Oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C171-F1. Where ambient temperatures reach -22°F (-30°C) or below, Ford recommends Engine Oil - SAE 0W-40 (WSS-M2C171-F1) for better cold starting.
When to Change the Oil
The Super Duty’s Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor shows a message in the instrument cluster display when an oil change is due. For the diesel, the manual’s guideline examples are up to 15,000 mi (24,000 km) for light use, 7,500-10,000 mi (12,000-16,000 km) for normal use and less than 7,500 mi (12,000 km) for severe use, and it says not to exceed one year, 15,000 mi (24,000 km) or 450 engine hours between service intervals. For every hour the vehicle idles, it accumulates the equivalent of about 25 mi (40 km).
