Complete Oil Specifications
Hyundai’s owner’s manual for the 2022 Accent with the Smartstream G1.6 engine recommends SAE 0W-20 rated API SN PLUS/SP or ILSAC GF-6, and says to use only oils that carry the API Certification Mark. Engine oil drain-and-refill volume is 4.02 US qt (3.8 L).
When to Change the Oil
| Driving | Replace engine oil and filter |
|---|---|
| Normal | Every 8,000 miles (13,000 km) or 12 months |
| Severe usage | Every 5,000 miles (8,000 km) or 6 months |
The normal schedule assumes API SN PLUS (or above) oil. With a lower-grade oil, Hyundai says to use the severe-usage interval. Hyundai also counts mineral or semi-synthetic oil as a severe condition for oil changes.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
- Whether 4.02 US qt (3.8 L) includes the filter. Hyundai labels it “drain and refill”.
- OEM oil filter part number and drain plug torque. Neither appears in the owner’s manual pages used here.
