Complete Oil Specifications
The owner’s manual for the 2024 Jeep Compass recommends Mopar API SP/GF-6A certified SAE 5W-30 full synthetic engine oil meeting FCA Material Standard MS-13340; an equivalent full synthetic 5W-30 API SP oil can be used but must carry the API Donut trademark for the 2.0L engine. Engine oil capacity is 5 quarts (4.7 liters) with the filter.
When to Change the Oil
The Compass has an automatic oil change indicator. When “Oil Change Required” appears, have the vehicle serviced within the next 500 miles (805 km). The manual also sets a hard limit: oil change intervals should never exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km), one year or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
- Capacity without the filter, OEM filter part number and drain plug torque. None appear in the owner’s manual.
- Engine family name. The manual calls it the “2.0L Engine”.
