Mazda’s owner’s manual for the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata with the 2.0L DOHC-16V in-line 4-cylinder (1,997.6 cc) says to use SAE 0W-20 engine oil. Only use SAE 0W-20 oil that’s “Certified For Gasoline Engines” by the American Petroleum Institute (API). Mazda says Mazda Genuine 0W-20 Oil is required to achieve optimum fuel economy.
Engine oil capacity is approximately 4.3 L (4.5 US qt) with oil filter replacement, or 4.1 L (4.3 US qt) without.
