Complete Oil Specifications
The owner’s manual for the 2022 RAM ProMaster recommends Mopar SAE 0W-20 full synthetic engine oil meeting FCA Material Standard MS-6395; an equivalent full synthetic SAE 0W-20 oil can be used but must carry the API Starburst trademark. Engine oil capacity for the 3.6L engine is 6 quarts (5.6 liters) with the filter.
Oil Filter
The manual recommends a Mopar Engine Oil Filter. If one isn’t available, use only filters that meet or exceed SAE/USCAR-36 Filter Performance Requirements.
When to Change the Oil
The ProMaster has an automatic oil change indicator. When “Oil Change Required” appears, have the vehicle serviced within the next 500 miles (805 km). The manual also sets a hard limit: oil change intervals should never exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km), 12 months or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
- Capacity without the filter, OEM filter part number and drain plug torque. None appear in the owner’s manual.
- Engine family name. The manual calls it the “3.6L Engine”.
