Toyota’s owner’s manual for the 2024 Corolla Cross (M20A-FKS) calls for Toyota Genuine Motor Oil or an equivalent JASO GLV-1, with a recommended viscosity of SAE 0W-8. Oil capacity is 4.4 qt (4.2 L) with the filter and 4.1 qt (3.9 L) without.
Can I Use 0W-16?
Only as a stopgap. Toyota calls SAE 0W-8 the best choice for fuel economy and cold starting. If it isn’t available, SAE 0W-16 may be used, but it must be replaced with 0W-8 at the next oil change.
Checking the Level After a Change
Toyota’s capacity figures are a reference for a drain and refill. After refilling, warm up and turn off the engine, wait about 5 minutes, then check the level on the dipstick.
