Ford’s owner’s manual for the 2022 Explorer with the 2.3L EcoBoost recommends Motorcraft SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C961-A1. If Motorcraft oil isn’t available, use an SAE 5W-30 oil that shows the API Certification Mark for gasoline engines. Engine oil capacity is 5.2 qt (4.9 L) including the oil filter.
