Complete Oil Specifications
Ford’s owner’s manual for the 2022 Maverick with the 2.5L Hybrid engine recommends Motorcraft SAE 0W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C962-A1. If Motorcraft oil isn’t available, use an SAE 0W-20 oil that shows the API Certification Mark for gasoline engines. Engine oil capacity is 5.7 qt (5.4 L) including the oil filter.

When to Change the Oil
The Maverick’s Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor shows a message in the information display at the proper oil change interval. The manual says this interval may be up to one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km), that hybrid vehicles could exceed 10,000 mi (16,000 km), and to change the oil within two weeks or 500 mi (800 km) of the message appearing. Its guideline examples are 7,500-10,000 mi (12,000-16,000 km) for normal use, 5,000-7,500 mi (8,000-12,000 km) for severe use and 3,000-5,000 mi (5,000-8,000 km) for extreme use, with a note that hybrid vehicles may achieve longer distances between oil changes but must not exceed the one year maximum oil change interval.
