Complete Oil Specifications
Nissan’s owner’s manual for the 2023 Pathfinder (3.5L VQ35DD) recommends Genuine NISSAN Motor Oil 0W-20 SP, or an equivalent. If Genuine NISSAN oil isn’t available, a synthetic 0W-20 GF-6 SP oil may be used. Engine oil drain and refill capacity is about 5-1/8 US qt (4.8 L) with an oil filter change, or 4-3/4 US qt (4.5 L) without.
When to Change the Oil
Nissan’s maintenance schedule for the VQ35DD lists replace engine oil & oil filter as essential maintenance every 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or 12 months, whichever comes first. If the oil replacement indicator comes on sooner, change the oil and filter within two weeks or before you drive 500 miles (800 km).
Warranty Note
The manual says damage caused by motor oil other than the recommended oil isn’t covered under Nissan’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
