Toyota’s owner’s manual for the 2025 Camry (A25A-FXS) calls for Toyota Genuine Motor Oil or an equivalent JASO GLV-1, with a recommended viscosity of SAE 0W-8. Oil capacity is 4.5 qt (4.3 L) with the filter and 4.2 qt (4.0 L) without.
Can I Use 0W-16?
Only as a stopgap. Toyota calls SAE 0W-8 the best choice for fuel economy and cold starting. If it isn’t available, SAE 0W-16 may be used, but it must be replaced with 0W-8 at the next oil change.
Checking the Level After a Change
Toyota’s capacity figures are a reference for a drain and refill. After refilling, warm up the engine, turn off the hybrid system, wait about 5 minutes, then check the level on the dipstick.
